Hi everyone!
Today I'm really excited to share with you this yummy buttermilk fried chicken recipe. It can be served as a steak with a cream sauce or in a burger! The best part about this recipe is that the chicken is soo tender and juicy every time! I have made this chicken several times but this time I added more spices and it tasted even better! My brother said that this was the best burger out of all those I made previously, so let's get started:
INGREDIENTS FOR THE FRIED CHICKEN:
- 2 chicken breasts (pounded and sprinkled with salt and pepper)
- 1 cup buttermilk (milk + 2 tsp vinegar)
- Quarter cup of hot sauce
- 1 tsp mixed herbs (or thyme+ basil+ Rosemary separately)
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper or paprika powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder or garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt
- Breading ( 1/2 cup corn flour+ 1/2 cup bread crumbs, salt, pepper, red chilli flakes)
- Oil for frying
Note : you can double the recipe for more amount of chicken.
INGREDIENTS FOR STEAK SAUCE:
- 1 tbsp butter
- Half cup cream
- Oregano + thyme + basil (dried)
- Black pepper
- Mozzarella cheese- as much as you prefer.
- Pinch of salt
- chopped olives or sauteed mushrooms
INGREDIENTS FOR BURGER:
- Burger buns-4 medium sized
- Lettuce
- Cheese slice
- Any of your favorite sauce
METHOD FOR FRIED CHICKEN:
- Mix milk with vinegar and let it stand for 5 minutes, this forms buttermilk if you don't have it available.
- Mix hot sauce and all other seasonings to buttermilk. Now add your chicken to the buttermilk and pour this mixture into an air tight container or a zip lock bag or a shopping bag.
- Now marinate the chicken in the buttermilk for 5-6 hours in the fridge.
- Now take it out of the Fridge and dip it into your breading, then again into the buttermilk then again into the breading.
- Now fry this in hot oil. Till the chicken is fully cooked and golden.
METHOD FOR MAKING STEAK SAUCE:
- Add your butter to a non-stick pan, then add your cream.
- After mixing well, add herbs, pepper and olives.
- Mix again, then add your cheese.
- Cook till desired thickness
- Pour it over your chicken.
- Serve alongside pasta or rice.
METHOD FOR MAKING BURGERS:
- Cut your cooked chicken into a half.
- Assemble your burgers with ingredients mentioned before.
- Serve with fries.
